Indian Coast Guard seizes marijuana worth Rs 1.3 crore near Rameshwaram

In a joint operation with the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB), the Indian Coast Guard Station Mandapam apprehended a suspicious boat with four crew near Rameshwaram on Monday. It was apprehended after hot pursuit as they were trying to flee at high speed, says an ICG release.

On investigation, 300 kg of Marijuana in 08 gunny bags and 500 gm of Hashish oil were recovered from the boat. The market value of consignment is approximately Rs 1.3 crores.

The Coast Guard being the lead agency in intelligence has always been on a high alert to deal with such cases with alacrity and vigilance.
