In an endeavour to empower poor and downtrodden with movement disability in their journey from dependence to independence, Adinath Jain Trust, Choolai, Chennai, distributed free prosthetic mobility aids worth Rs 20 lakhs to 600 beneficiaries on Tuesday.
Tamil Nadu Minister for Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowments PK Sekar Babu presided over the camp and distributed various accessories and aids, including artificial limbs, tricycle, wheelchair, glasses, and hearing aid to the beneficiaries.
Other special guests who were present at the event were SK Dogra IPS, Ex Director General of Police, Dr. Vivek Iyer, Goutamchand Chopda, Prakashchand Gulecha, Madanlal Chowatia, Subashchand Srisrimal, Rikhab Chand Jhadjhu, Vikash Desarla, and Rakesh Pipada.

- We have been organising periodical screening and distribution camps for providing artificial prosthetic mobility aids to people with movement disabilities for the last 42 years now: Mohan Jain and. Manoj Jain.
Speaking on the occasion, Trustees of Adinath Jain Trust, Mohan Jain and. Manoj Jain, said, “These aids are distributed to the poor and differently abled in memory of Meenadevi Rikhabchand Srisrimal, with the support of her family members, Nirmalabai, Premchand, Ajay, Vanithaben Bokadia along with the help of other donors. With a motto of creating and nurturing an inclusive society for the differently abled, we at Adinath Jain Trust have been organising periodical screening and distribution camps for providing artificial prosthetic mobility aids to people with movement disabilities for the last 42 years now. So far, we have benefitted over 12 lakh people and with today’s camp, we have transformed the lives of 600 more!”
“Our actions stem from our strong belief that with such prosthetic mobility aids, not only will their quality of lives improve, but their confidence and social standing in the society will be elevated to the next level. Furthermore, this will help them seek right employment opportunities that will reduce their dependence on the family members, increase their savings and eventually make their future hopeful, sans the social stigma,” they added.
Besides these, the trust is undertaking various kinds of philanthropy activities – Provision of Artificial Limbs, Calipers, Clutches, Tricycles on free of cost. A free clinic for eye screening, cataract operation and eye donation etc on a routine basis at its facility for the last four decades with the support of like-minded donors and CSR initiatives.
Dr Vivek Iyer, Neurologist attached to SIMS Hospital in Chennai who was present at the event has come forward to offer free consultation at the Trust on every Saturday between 4 p.m. and 5 p.m.
