Tamilnadu Minister of Environment Climate Change, Youth Welfare & Sports Development Siva V Meyyanathan and Minister for Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowments P K Sekhar on Wednesday felicitated Prince of Chess Grandmaster R Praggnanandhaa for receiving the prestigious Arjuna Award.
A grand felicitation ceremony was hosted at Velammal Main School, Mogappair Campus on Wednesday to honour its student and Chess Grandmaster R Praggnanandhaa so as to motivate other students to emulate him.
The Top seeded Chess Star received the country’s second -highest sporting honour from President Droupadi Murmu at Rashtrapati Bhavan, Delhi during the National Sports and Adventure Awards- 2022 Ceremony held recently.
The school endowed the Chess Icon with a cash award of Rs 10 lakh and paid a special tribute for scripting history.
Chaotic scenes unfolded when students of Velammal enthusiastically welcomed him. Pragg thanked the school for the constant support and expressed his gratitude to his teachers and mentors for preparing him over the years.
Velammal heralds the Prince of chess as he has made the school proud and the school encouraged him to reach the pinnacle of success with grit and determination. It was a remarkable day for one and all.
