The Tamil Nadu Government’s Flagship Tech, Entrepreneurship & Skills Summit – Umagine Chennai – will be held from March next year, said Tamil Nadu Information Technology Minister Mano Thangaraj here on Thursday.
Announcing this at a press conference along with the office-bearers of CII Tamil Nadu Chapter and STPI, the Minister reiterated that his department wows to fulfill its promise to contribute 100 percent of the Chief Minister M K Stalin’s vision to make the state numero uno and to make $1 trillion economy by 2030.

With a view to fulfill this, the IT department is fully geared up to escalate various initiatives to develop the IT parks in Tier-II, Tier III cites in the state.
Replying to a query, the minister said that the global recession in IT sector will not affect the IT Sector in the state.
Blue Ocean Awards for budding deeptechpreneurs: Neeraj Mittal
IT Secretary Dr Neeraj Mittal said that Blue Ocean Awards are debuting in India for the first time in Umagine. They will be a launching pad for budding deeptechpreneurs to take their ideas to the world.

Blue Ocean Awards will be given to winners of a pitching competition that will be evaluated by an international jury. The awards will be given away in three categories: Baby (for start-ups with investments of less than Euro 2 million), Mentor (for start-ups with investments of more than Euro 2 million), and Societal (for start-ups creating a new market with positive impacts on society). ELCOT organizes the mega event
All roads of technology and entrepreneurship ecosystem will lead to Chennai from March 23 to 25, 2023 for the Asia’s largest summit on technology and innovation, titled ‘Umagine Chennai’ at Chennai Trade Centre. The mega event has been organized by the Government of Tamil Nadu-owned Electronics Corporation of Tamil Nadu Limited (ELCOT). The theme of the Conference is “Leave the future behind”.

Tamil Nadu is aspiring to become a trillion-dollar economy by 2030 and Umagine Chennai ’23 is one of the key initiatives in this endeavour. Policymakers, CXOs, leading start-up entrepreneurs, technology experts, skill developers, academia, thought leaders, and representatives from technology sectors will congregate to discuss, deliberate, debate and suggest future paths for driving growth and development of the technology and entrepreneurship ecosystem. Umagine will provide networking opportunities with more than 250 ecosystem veterans and over 10 thousand delegates. Spread over three days, the summit will feature keynotes, fireside chats and panel discussions along with investment pitches, product showcases, technology showcases and release of thought leadership reports.
CG of France in Puducherry & Chennai launches Indian edition of Blue Ocean Awards
Lise Talbot Barré, Consul General of France in Pondicherry and Chennai, and Dr Neeraj Mittal, IAS, Principal Secretary, Information Technology & Digital Services, Government of Tamil Nadu, formally announced France as the country partner of Umagine Chennai and launched the Indian edition of Blue Ocean Awards on Thursday.
The event partner is Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) and CII’s partners shall include Internet And Mobile Association of India (IAMAI), iarani.ai , Idea Works Design & Strategy Private Ltd.
