Claiming that post-Covid newborns, children, adolescents and parents are experiencing a surge in healthcare issues and the world needs to think innovatively and improve the systems of care to meet the demand and provide the best care for affected, the Academy of Pediatrics Gujarat is holding the three-day 48th Annual State Conference – GujPedicon 2022 in Ahmedabad from Friday to Sunday.
This conference is being organised to create awareness about tackling all these issues and avoiding self-medication. Around 500+ paediatricians from Gujarat and outside Gujarat will participate in this event.
Gujarat Health and Family Welfare Additional Chief Secretary Manoj Aggarwal IAS will be the chief guest while CIAP 2023 President Dr. Upendra Kinjawadekar will be the guest of honour. UNICEF Gujarat Head Prashantha Das and GujPedicon organizing chairperson Dr Chetan Trivedi will be present.
The installation ceremony of newly-elected president of Academy of Paediatrics Gujarat Dr Chetan Trivedi will also be held.
In the “Gujpedicon 2022” curtain-raiser event, President-elect of Academy of Paediatrics, Gujarat Dr. Chetan Trivedi said, “During ‘Gujpedicon 2022,’ various experts and seniors in the field of Pediatrics and its sub-specialties will share their expertise, innovations and knowledge with our fellow members to enhance their skills and expertise. Not only this, they will keep themselves up-to-date with the latest advancements in the field of pediatrics to improve the healthcare of children in our state. The conference includes a series of lectures and group discussions on current issues related to child health, social issues, adolescent health issues, lifestyle issues, neonatal issues and immunization etc. The sessions will also be organized in co-ordination with the UNICEF, Government of Gujarat and Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation health department officials.””.
Dr. Chetan Trivedi further said, “We will also hold various workshops on Kangaroo Mother Care and advanced life support for newborns, antibiotic prescription and infections in children on the first day. This will see the participation of all healthcare professionals like nursing staff, general medical practitioners and paediatricians to hone their skills in latest advancement in childcare. ”
“After that, conferences will be held on various topics related to health problems in children for the next two days. We are striving to organize this conference in an eco-friendly manner, so that plastic water bottles, plastic bags will not be used during this planning. We will follow eco-friendly options like soft copy or digital display instead of paper,” Dr Chetan Trivedi added..
The Academy of Paediatrics Gujarat has 2,200 members with 22 urban branches. The Academy of Paediatrics Ahmedabad having 550 members is an arm of the APG. The Academy of Pediatrics not only deals with the medical field but also works on various fields of social activities.
Dr. Nishchal Bhatt (Scientific Convener), Dr. Bela Shah (Organizing Co-Chair Person), Dr. Manish Mehta (Chief Organizing Secretary), Dr. Rakesh Sharma (Convener), and Dr JK Gosai (Co-Convener) were also present at the event and shared their thoughts.
