The Asian African Chamber of Commerce & Industry Foundation (AACCI) launched the 1st Global Secretariat Office in Ahmedabad, Gujarat on Saturday. The event marked 5 years of successful completion of the AACCI, which was recently recognized in the “Indian Glory Book of Records” as the Fastest Growing Chamber of Commerce in India.
Speaking on the joyous occasion, Founder & Chairman of the AACCI, Dr GD Singh said, “We are proud of our big achievements in a short time. But more importantly, we are proud of the strides we have made to include and bridge the gap between all the 102 countries of Asia and Africa, which has never happened before.”
Vejalpur MLA Amitbhai Thakar inaugurated the Global Secretariat and said, “Under visionary Prime Minister Narendra Modi is emerging as an economic power. I urge our industrialists, entrepreneurs, SMEs to utilize this golden opportunity to widen their business in all these countries.”
India and Africa have always shared a great camaraderie, thanks to their
shared colonial past, as well as a long history of commercial affiliation. Today, 3 million people of Indian origin are settled across Africa, more than half of whom are Gujaratis. They are densely settled in all the East African countries such as Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, South Africa, Oman, Madagascar, and Mauritius, where they have played a pivotal role in the development of the country’s economy.
The two continents have also shown very strong presence in the global markets. Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi plans to make India a $5 trillion economy by 2024-25. While resource rich Africa, with some of the fastest-growing economies in the world, boasts a staggering GDP of $2.6 trillion already.
Africa is expected to host nearly a quarter of the global workforce and consumer market by 2030, making the entire continent an extremely viable partner for governments and businesses worldwide. India has already emerged as one of the top five investors in the continent, with investments to the tune of $74 billion.
A substantial chunk of this investment comes through the state of Gujarat. These rapidly ascending numbers have necessitated the opening of the GSA in the state. A focused initiative by the AACCI to facilitate direct and quick business between the two continents, GSA will facilitate opportunities for sustained and inclusive economic growth for all its partner countries.
“The GSA will provide one-stop-shop support for all your business needs in any of the 102 countries in Asia and Africa, and help you every step of the way,” sums up Dr Singh.
