GANDHINAGAR, DEC 27

Giving shape to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of harnessing drones to further ‘Ease of Living’ and encourage a culture of innovation, the Rashtriya Raksha University (RRU), an institute of National Importance under the Ministry of Home Affairs, on Tuesday announced it will impart drone-training to media personnel in January 2023.

The RRU on Tuesday achieved yet another milestone when the second batch of 12 trainees successfully completed their training on Drone flying at the RRU-DroneAcharya Remote Pilot Training Centre (RPTC) on the University campus.

The event was as much as a collective achievement by the University as it was an individual accomplishment by every proud trainee of the second batch, as this time the batch comprised personnel from the Indian Army and Gujarat Police (Crime Branch).

The RRU – DroneAcharya happens to be one of the just 34 Remote Pilot Training Organisations approved by the Director General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) in India at present. The primary aim of this RPTC is to train serving personnel of the Indian Armed Forces, Central Armed Police Forces, Para Military Forces, and Government personnel from various departments such as Agriculture, Irrigation, Forestry, Town Planning, Power, Disaster Management etc. The training was open to private citizens as well.

Vice Chancellor Dr Bimal N Patel congratulates the participants on this achievement and exhorted them to motivate others to avail this opportunity for becoming qualified Drone Pilots.-NE photo

The event included an impressive demonstration of flying skills by the trainers as well as the trainees. This was followed by the award of Certificates to the successful trainees by Prof (Dr) Bimal N Patel, Vice Chancellor RRU.

In his address, the Vice Chancellor congratulated the participants on this achievement and exhorted them to motivate others to avail this opportunity for becoming qualified Drone Pilots. RRU, he further added, was receiving a great response to this initiative from the environment. The Vice Chancellor quoted Prime Minister Narendra Modi who has stated recently “We are witnessing record enthusiasm towards drones in India. Drones are being harnessed to further ‘Ease of Living’ and encourage a culture of innovation.” and reiterated how RRU was committed to this national resolve.

The stage has been set for more such future batches at the RRU-DroneAcharya Remote Pilot Training Centre (RPTC). The next batch is planned for the month of January (2023) comprising media personnel for drone-training.
