Lok Sabha poll campaign: BJP chief calls DMK is not a regional party, it’s a family party

In a scathing attack on the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) and  the Congress, Nadda said both follow “dynastic and family politics” with one being “Gandhi and sons” and the other being “Karunanidhi and sons”. "DMK is not a regional party, it's a family party. D stands for Dynasty, M stands for Money swindling and K stands for Katta panchayat,” charged Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) national president JP Nadda.

COIMBATORE, DEC 27

After having won the Gujarat Assembly polls for the seventh consecutive time with record-breaking mandate, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) national president Jagat Prakash Nadda on Tuesday arrived in Coimbatore to target the Lok Sabha constituencies lying in the district. He was welcomed by Tamil Nadu BJP president K Annamalai at the Coimbatore airport.

  • D stands for Dynasty, M stands for Money swindling and K stands for Katta panchayat

  • Both, Congress & DMK, follow “dynastic and family politics” with one being “Gandhi and sons” and the other being “Karunanidhi and sons”

  • Since the BJP came to power, the poor in the country has been empowered and women of the country have been empowered

  • With both EPS and OPS factions fighting it out over the control of AIADMK, the saffron party may go solo in Tamil Nadu without any alliance with the Dravidian party.

In a scathing attack on the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) and  the Congress, Nadda said both follow “dynastic and family politics” with one being “Gandhi and sons” and the other being “Karunanidhi and sons”. “DMK is not a regional party, it’s a family party. Further showcasing his confidence in the victory of the saffron party in the upcoming general elections, Nadda said, “Be it the Lok Sabha elections or the upcoming Vidhan Sabha elections, I am sure the people of the state will turn the table this time. I am confident about this.”

Witnessing this massive support of the people for the @BJP4India while addressing the public meeting in Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu, I am certain that they are in sync with Hon. PM @narendramodi Ji's vision and his politics of 'Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas, Sabka Vishwas, Sabka Prayas'. pic.twitter.com/AhfhwlKp0c

Launching a scathing attack on the Congress party, Nadda said, “We have to think and judge what the Congress government has done to the country in the past 70 years. Since the BJP came to power, the poor in the country has been empowered and women of the country have been empowered. Modi government has truly changed the lives of people.”

Earlier in 2019, the saffron party lost all five seats it contested along with its National Democratic Alliance (NDA) partner All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) and others. Notably, NDA contested all 39 seats but managed to win just one seat.

According to political commentators, this visit could set the ground for determining the Tamil Nadu BJP’s election strategy for the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.

While the BJP and the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) had allied in the 2019 elections, there are talks of the BJP wanting to go fight it alone this time, riding on the rising popularity of Annamalai.

With both EPS and OPS factions fighting it out over the control of AIADMK, the saffron party may go solo in Tamil Nadu without any alliance with the Dravidian party.
