New York-based life insurance agent generous philanthropist Vishnubhai Vallabhbhai Patel has been conferred with the ‘Daan Bhaskar Award’ for his contribution towards providing healthcare services to dialysis patients at Charusat Hospital here on Thursday.
The award was presented by Charusat President Surendrabhai Patel on Thursday, February 16, during an event organized by the Shri Charotar Moti Sattavis Patidar Kelavani Mandal at the Charusat campus, Changa.
“A donation of more than Rs. 1 crore has been made for the Charusat campus by Vishnubhai Vallabhbhai Patel, a well-known New York Life insurance agent based at USA and a generous philanthropist,” a release said.
The reading of the Danbhaskar Award and the Plaque of Altruism was done by Dr. Manan Raval, Principal, RPCP College. Dr. MC Patel handed over the shawl to Vishnubhai Patel and Naginbhai Patel presented the Plaque of Altruism to Vishnubhai Patel.
Philanthropist Vishnubhai Patel’s son Dr. Parag Patel, a cardiologist in the USA, and his daughter Dr. Palk Patel, a physiotherapist in the USA, as well as various leaders of Mahelav’s institutions and family members of those who came from the USA/UK were present at the event, the statement added.
Floral tributes pour
Hasmukh Patel (Hari), Deepakbhai Patel, Dr Uma Patel, VM Patel, Shanubhai Patel, Bhikhubhai Patel, and others shared their sweet experiences and memories with Vishnubhai.
Dr MC Patel said, “Vishnubhai’s life journey from a small village like Mahelav to New York is an inspiration for others. In his personal development, his wife Yashodhraben’s invaluable contribution is evident. He had requested to both his son and daughter to establish a permanent relationship with Charusat campus.”
Naginbhai Patel, who has known Vishnubhai for 40 years, described his experiences with him in America and said, “For the development of society, the support of generous-hearted people like Vishnubhai has always been available and in the future, we hope to receive more economic support as well.”
Dr Parag Patel expressed his appreciation on behalf of the donor family, stating that it was a big dream for my parents to come to America with a little money, which they were able to achieve through their hard work. In order to show gratitude for their help, he sponsored 18 members of their family to come to America within a day and made their stay permanent. “This award is dedicated to my mother Yashodharaben, who saved our lives. I will provide two weeks of voluntary service every year for the Cardiology department at the Charusat Hospital in the future whenever I visit here from America,” Dr Parag Patel announced.
Dr. Palk Patel further said,”My father has received various awards and honors, but he has accepted these awards with a sense of joy and pride. My father’s success is due to the feeling of giving back to society, and this valuable contribution is from my mother, Yashodharaben. My father has never disappointed anyone who has asked for help from him, whether it is an individual or an organization, and has helped everyone.”
In his acceptance speech, Vishnubhai said, “All the credit for the progress I have made in my life goes to my wife Yashodhara. When our relatives and friends come to our house in America, they were used to be welcomed by her with open arms and everyone calls her Annapurna. She has also financially supported our family by connecting all family members together. My wife Yashodhara’s contribution to the prosperity and development of my family is because she has brought us all together through love.”

In his presidential remarks, Charusat President Surendrabhai Patel said, “The development and progress of the world class infrastructure at Charusat Campus is due to the generosity of donors such as Vishnubhai and many more. Vishnubhai is actively involved as a trustee and has used his extensive relationships in both the United States and India to aid the progress of the organization.”
