Heaping praise on Vibrant Gujarat Government and biz savvy Gujaratis, Gujarat Tamils on Sunday said that Gujarat is our ‘Karmabhoomi’, land of opportunities, and ‘Global gateway of India’.

Internationally acclaimed starch expert and Tamil industrialist Rameshkumar Velayudham, Dr (Prof) Saroja Valarivan, philanthropist Kalpana Thanikachalam, Shri Krishna Tamil Vidyalayam Maninagar trustees Balaraman, Purushothaman and Murugan have feted a team of Tamil Nadu journalists on the last day of their week-long Gujarat visit and shared their experience with them.
The journalist team was led by Joint Director of the PIB, PMO Cell Arun Kumar, IIS and supported by Gujarat CMO, Information and Tourism Department officials.
Kickstarting the event, industrialist Rameshkumar Velayudham, who has been living in Gujarat for the 13 years, stated that initially he was reluctant to visit Gujarat to join Anil Ltd but after landing here he changed his perception and settled here. Rameshkumar said, “Gujaratis are business savvy and the DNA of trading runs in their blood. When Thiruppur-based knit-makers were facing shutdown over environmental issues, they contacted me seeking help. Immediately, I approached then chief minister Narendra Modi who in turn provided an environment-friendly industrial park to setup their shop in no time. This has helped them to meet over Rs 20,000 crore export obligations and shift their units back to Tamil Nadu. Gujarat govt’s single-window policy, industrial parks with common effluent treatment plants and slew of incentives make it more attractive for industrialists from all over India and MNCs. In a nutshell, Gujarat is ‘Global gateway of India’ for people like me.”
Mother of Gujarat Youth Icon and Arjuna Award Winner Elavenil, Dr (Prof) Saroja Valarivan, said, “Gujarat is our ‘karmabhoomi’ and land of opportunities. Gujarat Government has taken all measures to safeguard the livelihood, rights of all migrants, including Tamils. Women can go out alone even during odd hours without any fear here. This is the beauty of Gujarat. We, migrant Tamils, are like daughters-in-law of Gujarat doing the balancing act of protecting the rich language, culture and tradition of Tamil here. We urge both Gujarat and Tamil Nadu Chief Ministers to render all possible help to raise a ‘Temple of Knowledge’ in Tamil-dominated Maninagar.”

In his message to the people of Tamil Nadu, Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendrabhai Patel said, “The Government of Gujarat extends a warm welcome to the people of Tamil Nadu to visit Gujarat anytime.”

Gujarat Journalists Union president BR Prajapati, secretary Nattubhai Bhatt, treasurer Veejai Mehta, senior member RR Goswami, and office secretary Jagdish Mewa interacted with Tamil journalists and felicitated them.
Gujarat’s infra development is very impressive
Sharing their week-long visit of Gujarat, The New Indian Express Principal Correspondent S Guruvanmikanathan, Navjeevan Express Executive Editor R Arivanantham, The Hindu Correspondent Prasad, Puthia Talaimurai Special Correspondent S Rajkumar, and all others said that Sabarmati River Front, Kankaria Lake developments are noteworthy. They also lauded the largescale industralisation in Kutch, cooperative movement of Amul Dairy, tourism projects at Statue of Unity, Pink Rickshaws driven by tribal women for their economic uplift.
