Union Minister of State for Information and Broadcasting, Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairying Dr L Murugan on Sunday formally flagged off the inaugural introduction of Chennai Egmore – Madurai Tejas Express stoppage at Tambaram.

TR Baalu, Member of Parliament; K Vasanthakumari, Mayor of Tambaram Municipal Corporation; SR Raja, MLA; Ganesh, Divisional Railway Manager, Chennai; P Ananth, Chief Project Manager, Gati Sakthi, Chennai; Sachin Punetha, Additional Divisional Manager, Chennai and Officers and Staff of Southern Railway also participated in the brief function held at Tambaram Railway Station.

- Railway Board has permitted stoppage for Train No.22671/22672 Chennai Egmore – Madurai – Chennai Egmore TEJAS Superfast Express at TAMBARAM Railway station for a period of six months wef from today
The stoppage at Tambaram was much sought after by the passengers. Tambaram is a major Suburban of Chennai City. This stoppage will immensely benefit IT employees commuting regularly between Madurai and Chennai as Tambaram is close to IT hubs like Mahindra city. This stoppage will also benefit businessmen and merchants traveling between the two cities.
Railway Board has permitted stoppage for Train No.22671/22672 Chennai Egmore – Madurai – Chennai Egmore TEJAS Superfast Express at TAMBARAM Railway station for a period of six months on experimental basis with effect from Sunday, 26th February 2023.
Train No.22671 Chennai Egmore – Madurai Tejas Superfast Express (6 days a Week) will leave Chennai Egmore at 06.00 hrs on all days except Thursdays with the stoppage at Tambaram (06:25 (Arr) / (06:27 (Dep) and reach Madurai at 12.15 hrs.
In the return direction, Train No.22672 Madurai – Chennai Egmore Tejas Superfast Express (6 days a Week) will leave Madurai at 15.00 hrs on all days except Thursdays with the stoppage at Tambaram (20:38 (Arr)/ 20:40 (Dep) to reach Chennai Egmore at 21.15 hrs.
However, there is no change in the arrival/departure timings at other stations/stoppages, namely, Chennai Egmore, Tiruchchirappalli, Dindigul and Madurai, the statement added.
