AHMEDABAD, MARCH 7

Five days ahead of crucial Rajya Sabha elections – March 26 – Prime Minister Narendra Modi is likely to visit Gujarat on March 21, for a two-day visit, to inaugurate several projects. It will be his second visit to Gujarat this year, after attending ‘Namaste Trump’ at Motera stadium in Ahmedabad on February 24.

On the first day of his visit, Modi will inaugurate the new building of U N Mehta Hospital in the city. He’s also likely to visit Vadodara, Junagadh and Kevadiya Colony on the banks of Narmada.

Modi is likely to visit the Statue of Unity (SoU) to review progress made on different projects there like the safari park and glow garden. Though they have been opened to the public, PM Modi is yet to visit them. Sources said Modi is likely to spend some time there.

With an eye on local body polls, farmers to get power in the daytime

Later, he is likely to visit Vadodara to inaugurate a central government initiative before heading for Junagadh. The State government introduced the Dinkar Project for farmers under which the sons of soil will get electricity supply during the daytime. Farmers in Junagadh, Amreli and surrounding areas have been demanding power supply during the daytime after several leopard attacks on humans recently. PM is likely to launch the scheme from Junagadh.

According to sources, elections to Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) and other local bodies will be held later this year. The PM will boost the morale of the BJP grass root  workers to propagate the government’s achievements among the masses.
