Shri Somnath Sanskrit University in Verval is all set to publish a book on Saurashtra and Tamil Nadu link. The Somnath-Rameswaram Sangam Ashthakam, a set of verses celebrating historical ties between Saurashtra and Tamil Nadu has been composed by Shree Somnath Sanskrit University, Veraval. It is based on the historic event of the auspicious confluence of the two holy places of Rameswaram and Somnath.
Many eminent scholars from Shri Somnath Sanskrit University, Veraval, and affiliated universities across the region came together to organize a cultural, educational, and historical program to highlight the sentiments and enthusiasm of the people towards the concept of ‘Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam’ (The world is a family) and the vision of ‘Ek Bharat, Shreshtha Bharat.’

The book is an amalgamation of renowned poets composing verses related to the emotions and sentiments of Saurashtra Tamil Sangam. The best verses from these compositions have been compiled in a book, “सौराष्ट्र-तमिलसङ्गमप्रशस्तिः” (Saurashtra Tamil Sangam Praise). The book will offer a unique experience for readers to experience the feelings and sentiments of the artists and poetic scholars and keep the memories of the momentous Saurashtra Tamil Sangamam alive.
Shree Somnath Sanskrit University is a unique foundation upholding Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision to signify the importance of ‘Sanskrit and Shastras.’ During its inauguration, the Prime Minister stated, “Shree Somnath Sanskrit University will not only develop individuals but also future generations. The establishment of this university is the beginning of a great campaign of human development.”
Resonating with the idea of Prime Ministeri Narendra Modi, the ‘Saurashtra Tamil Sangamam’ is being held in Gujarat and Tamil Nadu witnessing people from both states participating wholeheartedly.
