The Velliangiri Hills located in Coimbatore is a place of historical and spiritual significance. Legends state that Shiva himself meditated on these hills, earning the place its name of Southern Kailash. Owing to challenging climatic conditions, trekking up the hill is allowed only during the summers, which witnesses a huge flock of devotees thronging to the place. Cleanliness drives thus become an imperative in maintaining the pristine environment of the hills.
