Guv RN Ravi inaugurates Sir CV Raman lab at Mother Teresa Women’s University

The Governor inaugurated the Sir CV Raman laboratory at Physics department in the University. The lab was set up at a cost of Rs 81.35 lakhs and funded under TANSCHE project. The Governor who is also Chancellor interacted with the faculty members of the Department of Physics and enquired about the instruments.

Tamil Nadu Governor RN Ravi on Monday inaugurated the Sir CV Raman laboratory at Mother Teresa Women’s University, Attuvampatty, Kodaikanal, on Monday and interacted with the faculty and students.

Governor had a detailed lively interaction with university students. The Governor inaugurated the Sir CV Raman laboratory at Physics department in the University. The lab was set up at a cost of Rs 81.35 lakhs and funded under TANSCHE project. He also visited the University Library and Gandhi Museum. The Gandhi Museum is a permanent museum funded by Alumni fund worth Rs 1, 85,532 and displays in the Gandhian ideology. The Governor enjoyed the pictures and interacted with the Vice Chancellor and other members present in the Library.

In his interaction with the students and others, Governor answered on empowering women, and G-20 quoting so much from the incidents recently happened in the country, about the hard work of his mother and Swamy Vivekananda as his role model and the first lady as his source of strength.

The interaction session started with a welcome address by the inquisitive students sought  the  Governor’s advice to younger generations to succeed, smart work or hard work, role of youngsters in G-20, role model, establishment of Foreign Universities in India etc.

Tribals submitted a memorandum to the Governor seeking  job, restoration of ST quota and other slew of welfare measures.

The Governor met Pulayar tribals and Devaki, a tribal and alumni of the university, they said Pulayar tribes have been removed from ST community and hence their children were finding difficulty in getting government jobs and other aids despite being qualified. They said that a few of the tribal people have been provided with houses with good water supply. However, most of them do not have permanent lands and they earn their livelihood through forest lands. They have also handed over a petition to the Governor seeking a slew of demands. The Governor assured them to look into their grievances and resolve them.

The Registrar proposed the Vote of thanks.
