Lieutenant General A K Singh, Army Commander, Southern Command concluded his two-day visit to Ahmedabad on Tuesday.
He reviewed the operational preparedness and measures being undertaken to transform the Formation into a modern, cohesive, lean and agile war fighting force. The General Officer complimented the Officers, Junior Leaders and troops involved in undertaking disaster relief during relief operations in cyclone prone areas, innovation in coordination with academia of national importance, conduct of NCC attachment camps, including 250 Girl Cadets, adoption of border villages and local schools under Vibrant Village Program and Vidyanjali Scheme.
The Army Commander also called on Gujarat Governor Acharya Devvrat, Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendrabhai Patel, to discuss issues of national interest and apprised them about the profound contribution of the Indian Army towards Nation Building and continued preparedness to respond to future challenges.
The Governor and Chief Minister appreciated the existing high order of civil- military cooperation evident in recently conducted Operation Morbi Rahat and in undertaking development of border areas and hinterland in the State of Gujarat.
