AHMEDABAD, JUNE 5
Music lovers of Amdavad had a great gala time as renowned playback singer Shahid Mallya’s soulful rendering mesmerised them at Banjara Music Unfiltered-2 concert held at Banjara Cafe at Sindhubhan Road in Ahmedabad on Saturday night. The versatile singer won the hearts of people with acoustic, Bollywood, Indie, and pop songs. Shahid Mallya is an Indian playback singer who has sung songs in various films, including Gujarati. He also sings Hindi, Punjabi, Tamil, Telugu and 6 other language songs prominently.

During his concerts he won the hearts of the people with his live performances of well-known songs like ‘Rabba Main To Maar Gaya Oye’, ‘Daria’, Chitta Ve, ‘ Saaiyaan ‘ and ‘Ikk Kudi’, Shauk. Initially singing playback for Indian TV serials, Mallya also made his Bollywood debut with the song “Gurbani” from the film Yamla Pagla Deeva.
As he talks about face value in music, during the conversation he mentions the shift towards YouTube stars and reality TV shows, which has produced countless young singers of late. While Shahid acknowledges their impact in unearthing new talent, he remains skeptical about the longevity of these stars. He explains, “It’s good that talent is emerging now and there are many platforms to showcase your talent. But I don’t think this is the right way to start a career in music. You need to train properly under a Ustad or Guru. Else Jeetna Soon Fame Milega, Utna Hi Soon Gayab Bhi Ho Jaoge.”
Shahid says, “Even though I am from this generation, I am one of those people who has been learning since childhood following the guru-shishya tradition. I am more into practising the music, doing riyaz and learning the depth of music. Music is an ocean and what we learn our lifetime is just a drop of it.”
The event was organized by Neeraj Banjara and celebrity and artist management by Rahul Chopra.
Talking about this concert, Neeraj Banjara, owner of the restaurant said, “Banjara Group has a total of three restaurants, two of which are in Udaipur and the third one is in Ahmedabad where we have organized our musical concert series. This is the second series named Music Unfiltered-2. More than 700 people joined the event and performances were given by a total of 17 musical artists. Through this event, we provide a platform to the well-known artistes so that every small and big artist can present their talent in front of the people.”
