Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendrabhai Patel on Wednesday held a video conference with the Commissioners of 8 Municipal Corporations and conducted a comprehensive review of the advance planning carried out in the metropolis before the next monsoon.

The Chief Minister gave the necessary guidance by discussing the pre-monsoon action plan prepared by the Municipal Corporations of Ahmedabad, Surat, Vadodara, Rajkot, Bhavnagar, Jamnagar, Junagadh and Gandhinagar under the City Disaster Management Plan-2023.

The Chief Minister gave clear directions that in view of the changed rainfall pattern, the necessary arrangements in this action plan must be carried out in the metros.

He also gave instructions to focus immediately on the maintenance of roads, water and drainage lines.

Bhupendra Patel directed that no negligence will be tolerated especially in the context of the operation of roads, Also if there is any defect found in the roads prepared this year he would not hesitate to take stringent action against the concerned department/official.
Bhupendra Patel emphasized that complaints or representations of the people in the metropolitan cities should be responded quickly and every responsible officer must be available on phone if required to communicate.
The Municipal Commissioners gave detailed information of the plans prepared by them for their respective city in this video conference in the presence of Chief Principal Secretary to CM Kailashnathan, Chief Secretary Raj Kumar, Additional Chief Secretaries and Principal Secretaries.
Accordingly, in terms of pre-monsoon action plan, provision of manholes and proper rain water drainage system in metros, removal of precarious and hazardous buildings-property, 24×7 central control room and CCTV network strengthening and to meet heavy rainfall situation if required, Moreover Chief minister was informed about the micro planning, including management of advanced equipment, health facility, communication system to alert people.
In the meeting, details were given regarding mock drills organized in connection with it in the cities.
Not only that, details were also given in the meeting about the operation of the rehabilitation team, specifying safe places in case the need arises to relocate citizens, animals due to heavy rains.
Chief Secretary Raj Kumar while appreciating the proactive work undertaken by the Municipal Corporations said in case of severe rain in other small municipalities or towns, the metropolises should show a sensible approach of sending their equipment to help them.
Principal Secretary Urban Development Sanjeev Kumar presented a presentation giving detailed guidance on Pre-Monsoon Action Plan.
