AHMEDABAD, JUNE 14

The cast of Netflix’s recent hit series, Scoop took the city of Ahmedabad by storm, immersing themselves in the rich and vibrant culture of the city over the past two days. Karishma Tanna, Harman Baweja and Deven Bhojani, along with renowned director Hansal Mehta embraced the local flavors, engaged with young fans and the community, partaking in various activities across the city during their visit.

The team began their tour of the colorful city with a visit to one of Gujarat’s most popular academic institutions, Parul University, Ahmedabad campus. Welcomed with tremendous fanfare, the Scoop team met with the faculty and engaged with students over fun activities like grooving to some foot-tapping music, taking selfies and answering burning questions. The director and cast also made their way to the local heritage restaurant, Agashiye, and indulged in mouthwatering Gujarati delights, experiencing the unique flavors and culinary heritage of the region. From delectable dhoklas to fragrant dal and sumptuous khandvi, the cast delighted their taste buds.

  • Through “Scoop” I hope audiences appreciate the work the media does: Director Hansal Mehta
  • The Netflix show is inspired by Jigna Vora’s biographical book “Behind the Bars In Byculla: My Days in Prison”
  • Mehta will next start shooting for his much-anticipated series “Gandhi”, headlined by “Scam 1992” star Pratik Gandhi

Furthermore, cast members, Karishma Tanna and Deven Bhojani also visited a contest-winning fan’s house in the city. The actors met and interacted with the entire family over fresh homemade Gujarati breakfast. The contest winner played their favourite scene on Netflix, of Karishma and Deven, that she loved.

Following their explorations and interactions throughout Gujarat, the team also gathered at a press meet hosted by Netflix, accompanied by director Hansal Mehta and the lady of the hour, Jigna Vora whose book served as an inspiration for the series. The conference provided a platform for the creators and cast members to celebrate the tremendous success of Scoop and express their gratitude for the overwhelming response received from audiences across the country. They also embraced this opportunity to engage in insightful discussions, shedding light on the themes and messages conveyed through Scoop and the impact it has had on viewers.

“Scoop” follows Jagruti Pathak, a star crime reporter at a Mumbai newspaper, played by Karishma Tanna, who makes headlines after she is accused of her rival Jaideb Sen’s (Prosenjit Chatterjee) murder.

“Through this (series), we are talking about our times and it’s also a cautionary tale. When the reporter becomes the reported, you never know when that will happen. In many ways, this tale from the past is a cautionary tale for the future,” Mehta says.

Calling journalists “a breed that is worth telling tales about”, Mehta says through “Scoop” he hopes audiences appreciate the work the media does.

The Netflix show is inspired by Jigna Vora’s biographical book “Behind the Bars In Byculla: My Days in Prison”. It is co-created by Mehta and Mrunmayee Lagoo Waikul (writer of “Thappad”).

Mehta will next start shooting for his much-anticipated series “Gandhi”, headlined by “Scam 1992” star Pratik Gandhi.

The visit to Gujarat and the subsequent press conference reaffirmed the resounding success of Scoop on Netflix as it made its way to the top 10 most watched series in India for two weeks in a row, solidifying the platform’s commitment to delivering exceptional content that captivates audiences.
