Gujarat will host four meetings of G20 in the first two weeks of July, including a meeting of finance ministers and central bank governors of G20 countries, an official said on Friday.
The meetings will take place in Surat, Kevadia and Gandhinagar and Ahmedabad, the official said.
A summit meeting of mayors of G20 countries under Urban 20 will be held at Mahatma Mandir in Gandhinagar on July 7 and 8, while a final meeting of the working group of finance ministers, Central Bank governors as well as finance secretary and deputy governors of central banks will be held in Gandhinagar from July 14, she said.
A meeting of business representatives under B20 (Business 20) to be held in Surat from July 1, where they will discuss about textiles, finance, banking, and diamond, which are core industries in Surat, she said.
Speakers at the Surat event include Union Cabinet Minister, Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways & Ministry of Ayush Sarbananda Sonowal as the chief guest.
These meetings will provide an opportunity for business representatives to share their perspectives, insights, and policy recommendations on various economic and business-related topics and will play a very significant role in shaping global economic agendas and policies, the official said.
“A visit to the DREAM City in Surat and a diamond manufacturing unit is planned for the guests during this B20 meet,” Kandhar said.

In line with the visionary approach of the Prime Minister Narendra Modi to transform India’s distinctive lighthouses into captivating heritage tourism sites, inauguration of tourism facilities at the at the iconic cities of Dwarka, Gopnath and Veraval and is set to take place on Saturday at Dwarka, Gujarat. This initiative aims to showcase the rich culture, significance, and allure of these magnificent structures, attracting tourists from around the world.
During the 75th episode of ‘Mann Ki Baat,’ the Prime Minister emphasized the unique appeal of lighthouses and their potential as tourist attractions. He expressed, “Light houses are unique as far as tourism is concerned. Due to their massive size, light houses have always been a centre of attraction for tourists. For boosting tourism, another 72 lighthouses have also been identified in India by DGLL.
Inspired by Prime Minister’s vision this momentous occasion will mark a significant milestone in the preservation and promotion of the city’s rich cultural heritage and will provide visitors with an extraordinary experience like never before. These Lighthouses are prominent landmarks and have served mariners for generations and now world-class tourism facilities have also been developed at these lighthouses. The newly inaugurated facilities combine historical charm with modern amenities, creating an unmatched destination for tourists from around the globe.
Inauguration will be presided over by Sarbananda Sonowal, Union Minister for Ports, Shipping & Waterways and AYUSH in the esteemed presence of dignitaries and distinguished guest namely Raghavbhai Hansrajbhai Patel, Minister of Agriculture, Animal Husbandry, Govt of Gujarat, Poonamben Maadam, MP (LS), Jamnagar, Rajeshbhai Chudasama, MP (LS), Junagadh, Gautambhai Chauhan, MLA, Talaja, Pabubha Manek, MLA, Dwarka, Vimalbhai Chudasama, MLA, Somnath and T K Ramachandran, Secretary, Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways.

CM to take part in Project Progress Review Meeting of NMHC at Lothal on Sunday
Under the Sagarmala programme, the Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways is developing a National Maritime Heritage Complex, a world-class facility at Lothal, Gujarat. NMHC would be developed as an international tourist destination, where the maritime heritage of India from ancient to modern times would be showcased and an edutainment approach using the latest technology would be adopted to spread awareness about India’s maritime heritage.
In this line, an onsite project progress review meeting will be held on Sunday, 2nd July 2023 at Lothal, Gujarat. The project will be reviewed by Bhupendrabhai Patel, the Chief Minister, of Gujarat; Sarbananda Sonowal, Union Minister for Ports, Shipping & Waterways and AYUSH; Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya, Union Minister of Health & Family Welfare and Minister of Chemicals & Fertilizers; Shripad Yesso Naik, Union Minister of State for Ports, Shipping & Waterways and Tourism; and Shantanu Thakur, Union Minister of State for Ports, Shipping and Waterways.
