She was speaking on “Correctional Services through the Lens of Vipassana Meditation” at The School of Criminology and Behavioural Sciences (SCBS) of RRU here on Friday.

Dr. Bedi shared her experiences during her tenure as IG Prison in Tihar and how vipassana had greatly helped in the rehabilitation of prisoners.

Dr. Bedi further suggested that RRU establish a centre for Vipassana Meditation, and that Vipassana be introduced as a part of the curriculum for students and faculty members. She said that practicing Vipassana continuously is the best way to increase one’s concentration and that it can help reduce stress and anxiety.

Dr. Bedi also shed light on the reasons for crime and highlighted the 3Es (poor Education, poor Environment, bad Experience) as the root causes.

She said that Vipassana can help to address these root causes of crime and that it can also help to rehabilitate those who have already committed crimes. In conclusion, Dr. Bedi said that Vipassana is a powerful tool for transformation and that it can be used to improve the lives of individuals, families, communities, and societies. She urged the audience to learn more about Vipassana and to consider incorporating it into their own lives.

The session was highly interactive, and during the discussion she proposed to translate her book titled ‘It’s Always Possible ‘ in Gujarati, which has been accepted by Dr. Tripathi, and RRU is going to translate and publish her book in Gujarati.

The event was attended by a large number of students, faculty members, and other guests. The feedback from the participants was very positive, and many people expressed interest in learning more about Vipassana. This event was a valuable opportunity for students to learn about Vipassana and its potential to transform lives.

Vipassana is a form of meditation that has been practiced in India for centuries. It is a technique of self-observation that can help increase one’s awareness of the body, mind, and emotions. Vipassana is a powerful tool for personal transformation, and it has been shown to be effective in reducing stress, anxiety, and depression.

Sushil Goswami, Registrar, Rashtriya Raksha University, and Dr. Mahesh A. Tripathi, Director, SCBS, RRU were present at the event.

The event was co-chaired by Prof. (Dr.) Kalpesh H. Wandra, Pro VC, RRU, and Dr. S. L. Vaya, Chief Mentor, SCBS, RRU.
