It has become a popular choice for young minds from the Indian subcontinent due to the trend of pursuing education in a foreign land, which has seen a phenomenal rise in recent years.

Speaking to navjeevanexpress.com, Senior Trade and Investment Commissioner of Austrade, Dr Monica Kennedy, said out of 43 universities about 26 educational institutions across from the country will participate in the fair.

  • The roadshow is aimed at providing relevant information about Australian universities and understanding the policies of government on Australian education
  • The showcase will provide students, parents, and education leaders an opportunity to interact with representatives from Australian universities and hear from government officials on Australian education

  • Scholarships encompass a diverse array, available through governmental bodies and universities alike

Kennedy said, “Australian higher education has become a beacon of opportunity for Indian students looking to study abroad. Australia’s brilliance, diversity, and innovation in higher education have made it a popular choice for young people from the Indian subcontinent in recent years. Australia has been an attractive destination for international students due to its high-quality education system, globally recognised universities, multicultural environment, and post-study work opportunities.”

Replying to a query, she said that more number of Australian universities will commence their offshore campuses in India and the exact number would be known in due course. 70,231 Indians had joined campuses in Australia last year, taking the total number of Indian students to 1,00,302. This year, around 47,751 students have joined during the first intake of the current academic year. Last year the growth of student enrollment in Australian Universities surge to 41.3 per cent, she added.

International Offshore campuses are coming up at GIFTCity in Gandhinagar, Gujarat.

Fee structure and scholarships

Admissions of Australian universities begins in January and September every year. The annual expenses for an Indian student aspiring to study at a prestigious Australian university range from ₹12 lakhs to ₹30 lakhs, contingent upon the educational level, chosen university, and city of study.

Scholarships encompass a diverse array, available through governmental bodies and universities alike.

Maitri Scholars Program will support India’s top students to study at Australia’s world class universities. The scholarships prioritise students undertaking postgraduate studies in STEM-related disciplines.

The Chennai event will bring several prominent Australian Universities, government representatives of Australian states and territories, and departments of education and home affairs under one roof. The showcase will be a one-stop-shop to address the visitors’ queries about studying in Australia.

The roadshow will serve as a valuable platform for both students and parents to engage directly with delegates representing an extensive line-up of key esteemed Australian universities. Students will also have the opportunity to hear from the representatives of Australian states and territories, the Australian Department of Home Affairs and the Australian Department of Education.

This is an excellent platform for students to understand the emerging trends in the education sector of Australia and pick their choice of university and destination in Australia.

The roadshow will showcase Australia’s excellence in education, and facilitate one-on-one engagements for students, parents, and school counsellors with representatives of globally-ranked universities. It will also cover key aspects that students need to consider before deciding on studying in Australia – from fees, popular intakes, highly sought-after courses and life as a student in Australia.
