Amidst the raging controversy over ‘Sanātana Dharma’ in the country, Actor-Director Cheran-starrer ‘Tamil Kudimagan’ was released on Thursday to bring about a transformation in the society at a large. It is an engaging social drama, which depicts the evils of caste system that is prevailing in rural Tamil Nadu.
Despite the birth place of Periyar, Dr CN Annadurai, Dr Kalaignar and the establishment of Samathuvapurams, Tamil Nadu needs to trail a new blazer in wiping out the caste system. This is one more attempt in right time and direction.
As usual actor Cheran delivers his stellar performance in the social drama. In recent times, the Tamil Cinema industry is producing films that were against the caste system and oppression of lower caste by upper caste.
Trailer
Director Esakki Karvanan arrives with ‘Tamil Kudimagan,’ a straightforward and at times impactful drama featuring Cheran in the lead, who plays the role of Chinnasamy, a man from a lower caste (performing funeral service) become Village Administrative Officer.
How Chinnasamy goes in his path to achieve his dreams, and also enables the people around him to dream bigger is the rest of the story. The film finally moves onto a courtroom drama, where law is pulled into the equation and driven ahead to a conclusion.
Though the film has punch dialogues against caste system and political system revolving around the castes in the country reminds us the old wine in a new bottle.
