Cadet P. Joseph, second-year physics student of Thiyagaraja College, Madurai was selected for the International Naval Oversees Deployment Camp, said Commander Dr VP Senthil, the Commanding Officer, 2 Tamilnadu Naval NCC Unit Madurai on Monday.
For this camp, ten best cadets were selected from 17 NCC Directorate from all over India. P Joseph is the only cadet of Tamilnadu, Puducherry, and Andaman Nicobar Directorate selected for International OSD Camp.
Cadet Joseph will sail in the India Naval Training Ship from Kochi, Kerala on Tuesday (March 17) to five foreign countries – Mauritius, Maldives, Sri Lanka, Mozambique, and South Africa and will return on April 30. During this Forty day trip, Joseph will also be visiting all the Senior Military Officers and Govt Higher Officials of these nations.
During the sailing, the cadets will be exposed to learn various departments of the ship, the routine onboard a Naval ship and also will live a life similar to an under trainee Sailor onboard the Naval ship which is a very rare opportunity for a college student. This will highly motivate the cadets/ students to join the Indian Navy as Commissioned Officers in the future after the completion of their graduation, Commander Dr VP Senthil added.
He was given rigorous training by Commander VP Senthil, Commanding Officer and Dr.Binu Ramesh, Associate NCC Officer of TC College in Madurai for three months which resulted in helping him to reach this outstanding victory as he is the Only Cadet of entire Madurai and Tamilnadu. Getting selected for the International Overseas Deployment (OSD) is the main dream of every Naval NCC cadet in the entire country.
He was felicitated by Commander Dr. VP Senthil at a function held at the Office of the 2 Tamilnadu Naval Unit NCC, Kalai Nagar, Madurai. The Commanding Officer VP Senthil congratulated the Cadet for his outstanding performance in the All India Nau Sainik Competition and also bringing more laurels for Madurai as well as Tamilnadu.
The Officer also thanked the Principal, Naval NCC Training team, Professors and his parents who have been great support to achieve this grand success. And he also motivated the junior NCC cadets to excel like cadet Joseph in future.
