The Tamil Nadu government will be establishing more testing facilities across the state, said the Health and Family Welfare Minister C. Vijayabhaskar here on Tuesday.
Addressing reporters after the review meeting, the minister said that the second testing facility would come up at Rajiv Gandhi Government General Hospital and this facility will become operational in a couple of days.
Dr. Vijayabhaskar said that two more testing centres established at Tiruvarur and Tirunelveli Medical Colleges have become operational.
“The State is monitoring 16 districts which are sharing its border with neighbouring Kerala, Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh. We have formed teams comprising police, doctors, staff nurses and health department officials to screen people entering from these states at check posts.”
When the infections spreading fast in other parts of the state, it has been under control due to the extra cautious measures taken by the Tamil Nadu government, Dr. Vijayabhaskar said.
One positive patient who is undergoing treatment at Rajiv Gandhi Government General Hospital is stable and will be discharged today, the minister added.
