Sony Entertainment Television has been at the forefront of presenting stories of powerful characters that challenge prevailing stereotypes in the country. And now, the channel has struck a chord with viewers with ‘Kavya – Ek Jazbaa, Ek Junoon’, which is a compelling narrative of an inspiring and ambitious character, Kavya, whose purpose is to be an IAS Officer.

Television star Sumbul Touqeer Khan portrays the titular role, embodying the essence of a resolute and passionate woman who fearlessly makes difficult choices to stay true to her purpose of being an IAS Officer. She is joined by Mishkat Varma, who plays the role of Adiraj Pradhan, a genuine advocate of feminism who wholeheartedly celebrates their achievements and crosses paths with Kavya at the civil service academy.

Jaideep Thakur (Vinay Jain), Kavya’s mentor and her estranged fiancé Shubham’s (Anuj Sullere) father, is also the director at the academy, in charge of training Kavya’s batch of IAS aspirants. He believes Kavya has betrayed him when she refuses his request to stay back for Shubham, and quit her IAS aspirations, as a ‘Guru Dakshina’ to him. As a result, he vows to make her life difficult at the academy. The current storyline sees Kavya falling from the cliff as part of her training on a hill trek, when Jaideep makes Kavya face the horrors of her past. Adi saves her, but Jaideep conspires to turn this incident against her, blaming Kavya for being emotionally and mentally weak, because of which she lets her personal emotions overpower her performance on the trek. Jaideep orders a psychological evaluation of Kavya and, in a press conference at the academy, they question whether Kavya is fit to be an IAS officer. Kavya’s dreams, her father’s hopes and her family’s pride are now on the verge of being destroyed. How will Kavya brave this new storm in her life?

“Kavya – Ek Jazbaa, Ek Junoon” airs every Monday to Friday at 7.30 pm, exclusively on Sony Entertainment Television.

Commenting on her character, Sumbul Touqeer Khan, Actor, says, “This is a story that deserves to be told because Kavya is a character that can be an aspiration for many other women who dare to dream big and have it all. She is tenacious when it comes to achieving her goals, passionate about her purpose and wanting to make a difference and is dedicated to both her profession and her family. I truly hope that the people of Ahmedabad enjoy watching the show, our welcome here has been very warm and I truly enjoyed the drive through the city, passing by the beautiful Sabarmati Riverfront. “

Speaking with navjeevanexpress.com, Khan says, “Women ought to dream big and give shape to it with sheer determination. We can not only broken the glass ceilings but also contribute a lot in nation-building.”

Mishkat Verma, Actor, says, “I am so happy playing Adiraj; this character will break many stereotypes and put forth a positive message to viewers, encouraging equality between both genders. The plot of this show is very engaging, and the highs and lows of Kavya’s life will strike a chord with many viewers. I would like to appeal to all the residents of Ahmedabad to watch the show and shower us with their love and blessing.”
