Critically acclaimed award-winning ‘Kida,’ an emotional family drama with village background is releasing on Deepavali. The film is a perfect treat for the Tamil audience from the debutant director R Venkat.
The movie, starring Kaali Venkat in lead role, is bankrolled by Tollywood producer ‘Sravanthi’ Ravi Kishore, marking his entry into Tamil cinema.

The story revolves around a loving Goat ‘Karuppu’, Poo Ram as Chelliah who lives with his wife Pandiyammal and grandson Master Deepan in a remote village near Madurai.

Director Venkat narrates the hardships faced by the downtrodden during festival season whose income is marginal and hand to mouth. With just a few days left for Deepavali, Deepan asks Poo Ram to buy him a dress which is worth Rs 2,000.
Poo Ram also agrees and promises to get the dress for his grandson. However, he couldn’t arrange money, so he decides to sell Deepan’s pet goat. But no one is coming forward to buy the goat.
Parallelly, Kaali Venkat works as a butcher. But after a fight with his employer, he decides to establish his own shop before Deepavali.
But no one is willing to approach Kaali. Finally Poo Ram and Kali Venkat come to an agreement and Kaali agrees to buy Poo Ram’s goat. But all of a sudden, the goat goes missing in the previous evening. What happens is the rest of the story.
Director R Venkat has brought the life of a common person in a lively manner. Deepavali is a festival which is celebrated by everyone and the director has based his story surrounding this festival
Poo Ram always shines in his character, and this movie is no exception. He has done extraordinary work and brings justice to his role to life. Pandiyammal as his wife has done her job in a commendable manner.
Master Deepan is impressive and gives the much needed impetus to his character.
Kaali Venkat has breathed soul into his role as usual. He has portrayed the life of a common man in an effective manner.
