Ganesan (EV Ganeshbabu), a third generation, lives in a palatial house with his mother (Geetha Kailasam), pregnant wife Thanalakshmi (Sirushti Dange) and 8-year-old son. Ganesan’s two brothers, one sister living abroad, arrange to split the proceeds from the sale of the traditional house and its contents.

  • The film will appeal to anyone who is sensitive to inanimate objects that stay with us across generations
  • The story of ‘Kattil’ revolves around the last heir of a great family who clings to tradition and the price he pays for it

Then, Ganesan refuses to sell the traditional 250-year-old bed used by his ancestors and fights to keep it with him.

The story of ‘Kattil’ revolves around the last heir of a great family who clings to tradition and the price he pays for it. Editor and director B Lenin has written the screenplay as a family story where Vidhart, the current heir, imagines his father and himself as a ‘flashback’ to their bond over the traditional bed. His dialogues and cinematography are the backbone of the film.

Ganesan and his family spend 15 days crammed into one room of the ocean-like house so that the new owner to start work on converting the house into a tourist-friendly club.

Director and Actor E V Ganeshbabu-starrer award winning movie ‘Kattil’, spinning around a cot of a family has all ingredients from love, sentiment and family values hit the screens on Friday.

Besides acting as hero, Ganeshbabu extracted good work from the actors as a director.

He has made the entire plot which revolves around the 250 year old cot and has delivered the message of sentimental value of old/heritage value things we use for generations.

Ganeshbabu plays 3 different characters in the movie and has shown subtle variation in each of the roles along with actress Sruthi Dange.

Srusthi Dange comes as a pregnant role and is impressive in her character.

Kanniga who played the second female lead in the movie has also done her part well as wife of a drunkard in the family of Kurava community.

Viddharth who comes in a brief cameo creates the much needed impact for his character.

Rest of the cast have also delivered what was expected from them.

Srikanth Deva’s music is one of the biggest strengths and elevated the movie.

Camera work by DOP Wide Angle Ravishankar is excellent.

The film will appeal to anyone who is sensitive to inanimate objects that stay with us across generations.
