TN Social Welfare & Women Empowerment Minister unveils HCCB’s Financial, Digital Literacy program in Thoothukudi

Hindustan Coca-Cola Beverages (HCCB), a leading FMCG company in India, has rolled out a financial and digital literacy training programme for nearly 3,000 women in Tamil Nadu.

  • The programme aims to train 3,000 women beneficiaries in Tamil Nadu
  • Around 200 women from the community attended the inaugural function
  • The programme is part of the company’s national initiative to train 25,000 women across the country
  • Among other things, the digital literacy component will include concepts like Mobile Banking, Digital Market Linkage, Cyber Safety & Security
  • HCCB has partnered with Y4D Foundation in this initiative to equip women from diverse backgrounds in different locations and bridged the skills gap in financial and technological knowledge

The program was launched by Tamil Nadu Social Welfare & Women Empowerment Minister P. Geetha Jeevan at a function held on Saturday morning at VOC College of Education, Thoothukudi. Around 200 women, including some students were present at the time of the inauguration of the programme.

The financial and digital literacy training programme that is part of the company’s national initiative to train 25,000 women across the country, will encompass fundamentals of Banking Basics, Account Opening procedures, Unified Payments Interface (UPI) training, Investment Guidance, Net Banking, and insights into various Government Schemes for women such as Beti Bachao Beti Padhao, Sukanya Samriddhi Yojana, Nari Shakti, and more. In parallel, the digital literacy component will include concepts like Mobile Banking, Digital Market Linkage, and Cyber Safety and Security, equipping women with essential skills for success in the digital era.

This training will adopt a classroom-based format conducted at identified locations nationwide. Beneficiaries will be grouped based on their interests, needs, and existing levels of digital and financial literacy, fostering a targeted and efficient learning experience.

Sharing some of the interesting and relevant anecdotes from her personal life, Tamil Nadu Minister for Social Welfare & Women Empowerment P Geetha Jeevan, stated, “This endeavour of HCCB in Tamil Nadu reflects a commendable commitment to socio-economic progress. The financial and digital literacy training program is a crucial step towards building a more empowered and self-reliant community. By addressing fundamental concepts and digital skills, this initiative not only equips women with essential tools for success but also contributes significantly to Tamil Nadu’s overall development.”

Himanshu Priyadarshi, Chief Public Affairs, Communications, and Sustainability Officer at HCCB stated, “At Hindustan Coca-Cola Beverages, our commitment to positively impact our community extends beyond refreshing beverages. The financial and digital literacy program in the state of Tamil Nadu is a testament to our dedication to fostering change. We aim to empower women and contribute to the vibrant growth of the region. This initiative embodies our belief that empowerment is the key to building resilient communities and driving long-term socio-economic progress.”

HCCB has partnered with Y4D Foundation in this initiative to equip women from diverse backgrounds in different locations and bridged the skills gap in financial and technological knowledge.

Among those present were officials of National Urban Livelihood Mission, women members of some local Self Help Groups, senior officers of HCCB, Principal and teachers of the VOC College of Education.
