Even as the Stalin-led DMK Govt in Tamil Nadu and the BJP Govt in the Centre have been at loggerheads over many issues, tom-toming Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s rule, Union Minister of Commerce and Industry, Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution, Textiles, Piyush Goyal said a total of 3.6 crore people, including 25 lakhin Chennai, received free food grains in Tamil Nadu under the Prime Minister’s Garib Kalyan Anna Yojana (PMGKAY).

He applauded that Tamil Nadu was a great State, rich in culture and heritage and the State’s literature makes the entire country proud.
He was speaking at a Viksit Bharat Sankalp Yatra at Kolathur and Perambur in Chennai and handed over loans to youngsters and cooking gas connections under the Ujjwala Scheme to homemakers.

Hailing the PM, he said the noble aim of Prime Minister was to ensure that nobody should worry about the day-to-day requirements of food, clothing, home, healthcare and education. The minster further added that “All these four basic necessities should be available to all 140 crore Indians. We want 140 crore dreams to help Bharat become a Viksit Bharat, a developed nation when we celebrate 100 years of Independence.”
He urged farmers who don’t get ₹6000 a year to register themselves and street vendors should also get registered under the Swanidhi Scheme. Those, who don’t have health benefits should get registered under the Ayushman Bharat Scheme.

The minister heard the success stories of street vendors who had availed Prime Minister’s Swanidhi Loan scheme and motivated them to achieve much more in their life.
Indian Bank Executive Director Mahesh Kumar Bajaj welcomed the gathering. Indian Overseas Bank Executive Director Srimathi Sridhar proposed vote of thanks. Additional Director General (ADG) of PIB, Chennai M Annadurai was also present.
