92 Police officers, from 9 coastal states and 4 coastal Union Territories have passed the 13th Foundation Course on Coastal Operations jointly conducted by the Rashtriya Raksha University and the National Academy of Coastal Policing (NACP), Okha, Gujarat.
The trainees were declared successful after undergoing intensive and rigorous training and assessment in coastal operations.
This is the second batch of marine police trainees passing out from NACP with the Diploma in Coastal Security Operations from Gandhinagar, Gujarat-based Rashtriya Raksha University (RRU), an Institution of National Importance.
Border Security Force (BSF) Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Sudhindra K. Singh, who is heading NACP, congratulated all the successful police officers and urged them to use the acquired coastal security skill and expertise in strengthening the coastal security of their respective State/UT and further commit to ensure the security of Nation.
DIG Singh, complimented RRU Vice Chancellor Prof. (Dr.) Bimal N. Patel for forging the partnership with NACP and extended his special thanks to Sushil Goswami, Director, School of Integrated Coastal and Maritime Security Studies, RRU for his sincere effort and support by providing faculty of Maritime law and associated subjects.
According to DIG Singh, Diploma in Coastal Security Operations awarded by RRU, will not only upgrade the academic status of these police personnel but will also create a specialized cadre of coastal security personnel for the various stakeholders of coastal security of India.
DIG Singh also complimented the NACP team led by TT Pharka, Commandant, CB Prasad Deputy Commandant and Sonal Bohra, Assistant Commandant; Ram Kishan, Assistant Commandant; Atul Gehlot, Assistant Commandant; and others for meticulously planning and executing the extensive training program and giving their best reskilling and upskilling to the coastal and marine police personnel.
Manjari Chandra, Asst. Director, School of Integrated Coastal and Maritime Security Studies, RRU, administered the oath to the successful officers to conduct themselves as worthy members of the university and a well-trained and well-aware marine police officer.
Rashtriya Raksha University mandate is to bolster the coastal security architecture of the nation. It achieves this by providing world-class academic support, training, and research expertise to the coastal forces. Similarly, the National Academy of Coastal Policing has been established with the aim of imparting top-tier training and capacity-building programs to marine police forces.
Together, these institutions play a pivotal role in strengthening the security of the nation, reflecting the vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, and Minister of Home and Cooperation, Amit Shah. The collaborative efforts of both the institutions ensure that our marine police forces are well-equipped to protect our coasts and maintain national security.
