According to Charles Dickens, “A man is lucky if he is the first love of a woman. A woman is lucky if she is the last love of a man.”
Tamil movies have been showing teenage love with new angles for ages. ‘Ninaivellam Neeyada’, a romantic drama written and directed by Aadhiraj, is one among them eulogizing teenage love. The director also shoulders responsibility for the dialogues and the lyrics of the film. It is about first love and the separation thereafter.

Attracted by Yuvalakshmi, a newcomer to the school, young Prajan falls in love with her and hands over a love letter near the end of school. As a melodrama, his sweetheart suddenly leaves abroad to see her ailing father. Meanwhile, Prajan’s family forces him to marry his uncle’s daughter. The couple live like cat and mouse forcing Prajan to become a drunkard and think of romancing his old love. Being a traditional and well-cultured girl, his wife becomes distraught and mad.
After attending to his ailing dad in foreign shores, Yuvalakshmi returns home.
Prajan is heartbroken to see that Yuvalakshmi is not married and is still in love with him.
But there comes and unexpected twist in this breezy love story.
The filming of love portions in the school are really good and the way in which the movie progresses after that is also interesting.
Prajan has delivered one of his best performances so far.
He is too good in the love portions and has delivered a natural performance when suffers in his marriage.
Yuvalakshmi’s performance is one of the biggest strength of the movie.
She has breathed life into her character and has carried it in an elegant manner.
The supporting actors Redin Kingsley, Rohit, Manobala, Madhumitha and R V Udhayakumar have delivered their best.
Songs and background music by Ilayaraja are southing and suits the theme of teenage love blooming at its best.
A wholesome entertainer.
