Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy directed the officials to stagger the functioning of farmers markets (Rythu Bazars) to avoid mad rush at a time in urban and rural areas.
These instructions were given to the officials during the review meeting held on Wednesday. The Chief Minister also ordered to implement the lockdown strictly and maintain the functioning of Rythu bazars between 6 a.m. and 1 p.m.
Jagan concerned over the public gathering in large numbers to buy essentials fearing scarcity, this would increase the chances of spreading coronavirus.
All rythu bazars will be staggered and will be spread to all areas for convenience of the public.
“Precautions for maintaining social distancing have to be taken at every decentralised outlet and officials have to make sure at all outlets. Public are requested to follow the lockdown and remain indoors for safety. Only one person from a family has to come out for getting essential items not exceeding the radius of 3 km.” he said.
The Chief Minister appealed to the public to stay home and cooperate with the State in controlling the spread of the virus. He also said that 144 section is being implemented across the State and strict action will be taken against those defying the instructions, says a release from Chief Minister’s office.
