The number of COVID-19 patients in Gujarat rose to 43 with four more coronavirus cases reported in the state during the last 24 hours, a senior health official said on Thursday.
A 70-year-old male patient infected with SARS-CoV-2 died in Gujarat’s Bhavnagar early on Thursday, taking the death toll due to coronairus to three in the state.
The man from Bhavnagar with a travel history of Delhi, succumbed to the coronavirus, following comorbid conditions and other several complications.
The first patient in the state to die of COVID-19 was that of a 67 year male with comorbid conditions. The second patient was an 85-year-old woman from Ahmedabad to die of the disease on Wednesday night.

One new case each has been reported from Ahmedabad, Surat, Gandhinagar and Bhavnagar, state principal secretary (health) Jayanti Ravi said in Gandhinagar.
Ahmedabad is on top with 15 cases, followed by Vadodara-eight, Gandhinagar, and Surat-seven each, Rajkot-four and Kutch and Bhavnagar-one each.
The health authorities have had a total of 761 samples tested so far for the COVID-19 . A total of 31,495 have been quarantined in Gujarat.

He said, to give authentic news and updates on coronavirus, Centre has collaborated with social messaging app WhatsApp and issued a number ‘9013151515’. A person has to write ‘Namaste’ in Hindi or English and he will get the reply instantly.
