The Indian Coast Guard (ICG) on Thursday felicitated its ships and establishments in the Eastern region who have delivered outstanding performance in the year 2023.
The award ceremony was conducted on Thursday at Headquarters, Coast Guard Region (East) in Chennai.
Inspector General Donny Michael, TM, Commander Coast Guard Region (East) awarded trophies and certificates to Coast Guard units who have excelled in the realm of maritime operations, maintenance and adopting eco-friendly practices.
Indian Coast Guard ship ‘Vajra’ based at Tuticorin was adjudged the best ship in the region. Similarly, 744 Squadron (CG) based at Chennai was awarded the trophy for best aviation unit for providing seamless aerial coverage in the area of responsibility in year 2023.
Trophy for best ashore unit was bagged by Indian Coast Guard station Mandapam while Coast Guard Ship Maintenance Authority was adjudged best afloat support unit.
On this occasion, the Regional Commander extolled the winners in each category and encouraged all ICG units in the eastern region to maintain a high level of operational preparedness. The Regional Commander also encouraged ICG personnel to maintain the highest level of fitness and professional standards to meet future challenges in the maritime domain.
