At a time when the world is fighting against the pandemic COVID-19, Chief Minister Vijay Rupani has initiated ‘Vadil Vandana’- a programme to provide free of cost meals to the elderly and the aged living alone in the eight municipal corporation areas of the state, a government release said.
Generally, the elderly and the aged who live alone in megacities like Ahmedabad, Surat, Vadodara, Rajkot, Jamnagar, Bhavnagar and Gandhinagar avail tiffin services for their meals. Today, when the nation is under lockdown, this initiative will provide them food at the doorstep.
Nodal officers have been appointed in the eight metropolitan cities for coordination and management of the same. They have also been instructed by the CM to ensure the provision of other necessary items for the aged and the elderly.
