During her campaigning for Congress candidate Geniben Thakor atLakhani village of Banaskantha district, she said, “He (Modi) claims he has done a lot of development for the state. If so, he should represent the state in the Lok Sabha. Why is he (then) not contesting from Gujarat?”

Congress candidate Geniben Thakor is seen as giving a stiff fight to the BJP candidate Rekha Choudhary in Banaskantha constituency.
Forty-nine-year-old Rekha is an engineering college professor and a first-time candidate. Forty-eight-year-old Geniben is a sitting MLA. The constituency is dominated by voters from the Choudhary Patidar community and Thakor (OBC) community.
She said, “They call my brother Shehzada, I want to tell them how Shehzada walked 4,000 kilometers and listened to people’s problems. He talked to commoners and tried to understand their issue. Will Modi ever sit with farmers or labourers and talk with them?”
Priyanka went on to call Modi a Shahenshah and stated that the Shahenshah lives in a palace. “Have you watched him on television? You will not find dust on his face, do you think such a person will ever understand your problems,” she said.
Her comments came after PM Modi repeatedly called Rahul Gandhi a “shehzada [prince]” of “shahi parivar [royal]”. Addressing a rally in Gujarat on Thursday, PM Modi had targeted Congress MP Rahul Gandhi, saying the neighbouring Pakistan was eager to make the ‘shehzada’ of the grand old party India’s next PM as the country’s enemies want a weak government at the helm.
Attacking Modi further, she said, “Gujarat gave him power and respect, but he is only seen with big businessmen.”
“Have you witnessed PM Modi engaging with farmers? Despite widespread protests by farmers against the black laws, and the sacrifices of numerous farmers, the Prime Minister has not made an effort to meet them. It’s only when elections approach and it becomes evident that votes may be lost that PM Modi considers amending the laws,” Priyanka went on to ask.
She also asserted that the BJP aims to alter the Constitution, diminishing and diluting the rights handed to people through legislative provisions.
“In Gujarat, the majority of schools are private. Parents, including laborers and farmers, strive hard and often take loans to ensure their children receive education and employment opportunities. However, when it comes to taking exams, papers are leaked. This uncertainty about the future persists for years. Gujarat has seen numerous instances of paper leaks,” she added.
