Ather Energy, one of India’s leading electric scooter manufacturers, held its ‘Meet Rizta’ event on Saturday in Ahmedabad. During the event, Ather’s new family scooter, Rizta, and Halo helmet were showcased in front of its community members and EV intenders. Attendees also had the opportunity to experience Rizta firsthand and explore Ather’s experience zones at the venue, designed to provide an immersive understanding of the brand’s innovative technology and design philosophy.
Speaking on the occasion, Tarun Mehta, co-founder, Ather Energy, said, “As someone who has grown up in Ahmedabad, I have seen the utility a scooter holds for families here. A scooter is often used by multiple members of a family for various needs. So when we developed Rizta, our focus was on prioritizing family needs, especially safety, comfort, and convenience. This makes Rizta the perfect fit for the Gujarat market. The initial response has been great, and we anticipate this trend to continue.”
Ather launched its first electric scooter in 2018. Over the years, Ather has been known for its performance scooters in the 450 platform, with the 450X and 450S. The Rizta, which was launched recently, marks Ather’s entry into the family segment for two-wheelers. The company has 20 Experience Centres (EC) across Gujarat and over 215 ECs across India. Ather also has one of the largest electric two-wheeler fast charging networks in India. Ather has already installed over 100 fast charging stations, Ather Grids in Gujarat and over 2,000 Grids in India.
Rizta is available in two models with three variants: Rizta S and Rizta Z, featuring a 2.9 kWh battery, and a top-end model, Rizta Z, with a 3.7 kWh battery. The 2.9 kWh variants deliver a predicted IDC range of 123 km, while the 3.7 kWh variant offers an impressive 159 km range. The Rizta S is offered in three monotone colors, whereas the Rizta Z comes in seven colors, including three monotone and four dual-tone options.
It has been designed and engineered keeping families in mind, prioritizing comfort, convenience, and safety. The Rizta has one of the largest and comfortable seats in the market and offers a storage space of 56L – including a 34L underseat capacity and an optional 22L Frunk accessory. It also has a large floorboard that provides the rider with ample leg space.
Prioritising safety, with Rizta, Ather also introduced SkidControl™. This is Ather’s proprietary traction control system that seamlessly controls motor torque to mitigate the loss of traction while accelerating on low friction surfaces such as patches of road with gravel, sand, water, or oil. Additional safety features, such as FallSafeTM, Emergency Stop Signal (ESS), Tow and Theft Detect, and Ping My Scooter, which were previously seen on Ather’s 450 series of scooters, are also integrated into the Ather Rizta.
All three variants come with a top speed of 80 kmph and two riding modes – Zip and SmartEco. Moreover, ride assist features such as MagicTwistTM , AutoHoldTM , and Reverse Mode, which were integrated in the 450 series, are also present in the Rizta. The MagicTwist™ feature allows the rider to control the speed through the throttle-twist to accelerate, twist in the reverse direction to modulate deceleration at all charge levels. The AutoHoldTM feature holds the scooter for you when you’re on a slope, and Reverse Mode allows you to easily reverse the scooter without having to manually push it back.
Ather also showcased the Halo helmet. Ather Halo is a full face, top-of-the-line, integrated smart helmet. It features superlative audio by Harman Kardon. It offers riders a seamless experience with its proprietary auto Wear Detect technology, wireless charging, and allows them to control music and calls through the scooter’s handlebar. Halo also comes with Ather ChitChatTM , which enables helmet-to-helmet communication between the rider and pillion. It has a clean and futuristic design and comes with two color options.
All three variants come with Ather’s 5 year optional warranty program, ‘Ather Battery Protect’, that extends the battery warranty to 5 years/60,000 km.This warranty program not only covers battery failures but also guarantees a minimum of 70% state-of-health for the battery at the end of 5 years.
For home charging, the Rizta S and Rizta Z with a 2.9kWh battery come with a 350W Ather portable charger, and the top end Rizta Z with 3.7 kWh battery comes with a 700W new Ather Duo charger.
