Employees of SBI have donated Rs 100 crore to the Prime Minister’s relief fund to fight the coronavirus pandemic.

The country’s largest lender in a statement said its around 2,56,000 employees have decided to contribute two days’ salary to the PM CARES Fund.

With this collective effort and commitment of SBI employees, Rs 100 crore will be donated to the Fund, it added.

“It is a matter of pride for State Bank of India that all our employees voluntarily came forward to pledge their two days’ salary to the PM CARES Fund. We at SBI would keep continuing our support to the government in all its endeavours to address the challenges of this pandemic,” SBI Chairman Rajnish Kumar said.

At this time of crisis, SBI is committed to providing the best possible banking services to its customers, the bank said.

Last week, SBI had committed 0.25 per cent of annual profit for 2019-20 as a part of its CSR activities to fight Covid-19.

Piramal Group commits Rs 25 crore donation

Piramal Group on Tuesday said it has pledged Rs 25 crore towards the Prime Minister’s Citizen Assistance and Relief in Emergency Situations Fund (PM CARES Fund) to fight against COVID-19 pandemic.

The monetary commitment comes on the heels of the manpower and services that have already been deployed in collaboration with the central and state government entities to address the unprecedented challenges created by this crisis, Piramal Group said in a statement.

Piramal Foundation, the group’s philanthropic arm that has a presence in 25 states across India continues to work in partnership with the government, in the remotest parts of the country as it deploys various measures through its three initiatives, to address the COVID-19 pandemic, the statement said.

The three initiatives of the foundation are Piramal Swasthya, Piramal School of Leadership and Piramal Sarvajal.

In his capacity, Ajay Piramal, Chairman-Piramal Group along with other eminent personalities from the industry is actively supporting the Maharashtra State Government in its readiness efforts to handle the COVID-19 crisis, it added.

Kalyani Group of companies contributes Rs 25 cr

Bharat Forge, the flagship company of Kalyani Group & Other Kalyani Group companies has pledged assistance via the direct contribution of Rs 25 Crores to the Prime Minister’s Citizen Assistance and Relief in Emergency Situations Fund (PM CARES Fund) to fight against the COVID-19 pandemic. The Other group companies involved are Kalyani Steel, Saarloha Advanced Material Pvt Ltd., Automotive Axles and Hikal Ltd.

Baba Kalyani, Chairman, Bharat Forge Limited, said “The group is committed to assist the central and state government and the local authorities in all possible ways to deal with the pandemic. We are also using our group R&D facilities to look at ways of easing the shortage of critical medical equipment’s including ventilators, Respiratory equipment, and other sanitation/hygiene equipment. As part of our CSR activity, we have started addressing the food requirements of the local community and will increase the efforts in the coming days”.
