Hare Krishna Mandir, Bhadaj celebrated Sri Krishna Janmashtami on Monday with great grandeur. The Janmashtami celebrations at the temple were very unique and proved to be a spell binding experience for the devotees. Maha abhisheka, Jhulan Utsav, cultural programs, Swarna Ratha Utsav etc. made the festival more spectacular. Lakhs of people thronged the temple during the festival and received farali Krishna prasadam.
Dr. Mallika Sarabhai & Darpana Academy of Performing Group presented “Jai Kannaiyalal Ki,” a dance performance on Krishna Lila from 10.00pm onwards. Krishna Bhajans by kirtan devotees from Vrindavan throughout the day enthralled all.
Over 1,008 varieties of food prepared from the variety of sweets, milk, farsan etc. were offered to Lord Krishna and distributed to the devotees. Special pure vegetarian cake weighing 151 kgs was also offered.
Vishesha Janmashtami Alankara
Sri Sri Radha Madhav at Hare Krishna Mandir wore a fragrant and pleasing outfit during this Janmastami. This year the Lordships were dressed with pure silk and stones specially designed by the devotees, A new set of jewelry from valuable and precious stones to suit the dress of the deity was made from Vrindavan, A lot of thinking and planning have gone on the colors, design and material for the past 2 months. It’s a great pleasure to the see the deities on this occasion. Whole temple was decorated with fragrant & colorful flowers collected from various parts of India.
Jhulan (Hindola) Seva
Throughout the day Jhulan seva for Lord Krishna was also offered.
Swarna Ratha
Sri Sri Radha Madhav were offered a ride on specially designed Swarna Ratha. The program began with Ratha Puja accompanied with chanting of Vedic Hymns from Vedic Scriptures followed by Grand Arati to Lordships. Following this, Their Lordships Sri Sri Radha Madhav were carried around the temple parikrama on the ratha pulled by the devotees. During the entire route of the ride on the Swarna Ratha, devotees performed Harinam Sankritan.
Maha Abhishekam
Five thousand years ago, when Lord Krishna had appeared, Maharaja Nanda and Mother Yashoda, bathed baby Krishna with auspicious items like milk, ghee, honey, etc. Adopting this mood, the devotees of Hare Krishna Mandir, Bhadaj performed an elaborate Abhishek, bathing ceremony, to the Deities – Sri Sri Radha Madhav. The deities were bathed in wide range of auspicious items like panchgavya, medicinal herbs, to fruit juices and flowers. The special feature of the abhishek is bathing the Lord with 108 kalasha (pots) of water, collected from seven holy rivers. At the stroke of midnight grand Maha Mangala Arati, offering of traditional lamps was performed.
Maha Arati
A grand Maha Arati was offered to the Lordships during Krishna Janam ie at midnight accompanied with Sankirtan.
Nandotsav and Vyasa Puja
On Tuesday, Nandotsav and Vyasa Puja were celebrated at the temple. The birthday of a Vaishnava guru is known as Vyasa Puja. Acharya Srila Prabhupada was born on the day of Nandotsav, the next day of Janmashtami. Thus this day is grandly celebrated as Vyasa Puja Mahotsav.
The devotees had made a vow to chant 21 lakh names of Sri Krishna as an offering to Lord to bless the world with peace and prosperity. All the visitors also enthusiastically participated in this japa-yagna.
Many prominent guests of the state and city visited the temple to participate in various events and received the blessings of Lord Krishna.
