GANDHINAGAR, OCT 22
IIT Gandhinagar has been designated as a nodal agency for Yuva Sangam Phase V, a student exchange initiative under the Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat (EBSB) programme of the Government of India. This unique exchange is all about strengthening connections and fostering mutual understanding among the youth by bringing together students from Kerala and across the country for an experience like no other.

Yuva Sangam Phase V is an immersive journey that gives the youth a chance to explore the diverse landscapes of our nation. It’s designed for students from higher education institutions and some off-campus youngsters to experience the vibrant culture, key developmental milestones, achievements, and lively youth scene in the host state.
Interested youth in the age group of 18-30 years, mainly students, NSS/NYKS volunteers, employed/self-employed persons, etc. may register through the YUVA SANGAM portal.
The programme covers five broad areas: Paryatan (Tourism), Parampara (Traditions), Pragati (Development), Paraspar Sampark (People-to-people connect), and Prodyogiki (Technology).
The idea of a sustained and structured cultural connect between people of different regions was mooted by Prime Minister Narendra Modi during the Rashtriya Ekta Divas held on 31st October 2015 to commemorate the birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel. To crystallise this idea, the EBSB programme was launched on 31st October 2016. The origins and evolution of EBSB along with activities, special initiatives and campaigns organised under the programme are available in the e-Book (https://ekbharat.gov.in/JourneySoFarCampaign/index.html)
As the nodal institute for Gujarat, IIT Gandhinagar is leading the way in selecting students for an exciting week-long adventure at IIIT Kottayam in Kerala. Selected students will have the opportunity to explore the region’s landmarks, engage with the local community, and immerse themselves in the rich art and culture of the South.
The last date for online registration has been extended from Monday, October 21 to Friday, October 25, 2024. Selection will be based on the criteria set by the Government of India, from among those who register through the portal. Details about the travel itinerary and visit dates will be shared with the selected candidates.
This extension aims to provide additional time for interested participants to register for this unique student exchange programme under the Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat (EBSB) initiative.
