Aiming to bridge the gap between abled body athletes and para athletes in the disability community, Sittruli Foundation and Ganga Hospitals, in collaboration with Wavicle Data Solutions, Chennai Silks, Infiniti Software, and IBIS, organised the fifth edition of the Run for Wheels Marathon.
- This marathon features over 1,000 able-bodied participants from various age groups competing in four distinct categories: 10km, 5km, 3km, and 1km
- Approximately 60 special needs children from Kaumaram Prashanthi Academy, NISSARC, and Hands for You schools take part in the event
- Following the marathon, the leading athletes from the Tamil Nadu Wheelchair Basketball team conduct wheelchair basketball match
It has various race categories and cash prizes for both able-bodied and differently-abled athletes. It took place at the Ganga Spine Injury Rehabilitation Center in Koundampalayam on Sunday, December 1 at 5:00 am.
Chief Guests District Collector Krantikumar Pati, Ganga Hospital director Dr Rajasekar, Roots founder president Ramasamy flagged off the marathon. Mathesh Jayabal, Managing Director, Wavicle Data Solutions, India; V. Vikram Narayen, Executive Director, The Chennai Silks & Sree Kumaran Thangamaligai; Ajit Jose, General Manager, IBIS Coimbatore City Centre; and Senthilnathan, Product Development Manager, Infiniti Software Solutions were present at the event.
This Marathon featured over 1,000 able-bodied participants from various age groups competing in four distinct categories: 10km, 5km, 3km, and 1km. Besides, 1km category for neurodiverse children was introduced.
Approximately 60 special needs children from Kaumaram Prashanthi Academy, NISSARC, and Hands for You schools took part in the event.
Following the marathon, the leading athletes from the Tamil Nadu Wheelchair Basketball team conducted wheelchair basketball match.
The Chief Guests honored the marathon winners. T-shirts, medals, water bottles, certificates, and breakfast were given to all participants.
