Gujarat Education Minister Praful Pansheriya flagged off a 14-day Padh Yatra of NCC Cadets from Sabarmati Ashram to the Dandi Salt Satyagraha Memorial here on Tuesday.
In his pep talk, Education Minister Praful Pansheriya applauded the NCC Directorate of Gujarat for remaining numero uno in the nation. Pansheria said, “Under the inspiration and guidance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Atmanirbhar India has made development in all sectors. The NCC cadets will infuse new consciousness, new enthusiasm and new vigor into the youth with the message of Vikshit Bharat during this Dandi March. Gujarat Government is working in tandem with the NCC Directorate of Gujarat to enroll more students in NCC to instill discipline and patriotism among the youth.”
The minister also extensively quoted Saint Thiruvalluvar, spiritual Guru Shankaracharya to drive home the message of righteousness and working for the betterment of the society at large among the NCC cadets.
In a remarkable tribute to the historic Dandi March, 40 NCC cadets from Gujarat, including 20 girls, have undertaken a 14-day Padh Yatra from Sabarmati Ashram to the Dandi Salt Satyagraha Memorial. The march, spanning 410 kms, began on Tuesday, 10 December 2024 and will conclude on Tuesday, 23 December 2024. Covering approximately 40 kms per day, the cadets aim to spread powerful messages of nation-building and social transformation through their journey.
“This padh yatra is being organized by the NCC Directorates of Gujarat, Dadra-Nagar Haveli, Daman and Diu to rekindle the struggles of our freedom fighters and their sacrifices. The cadets will engage with communities along the route through impactful street plays and awareness programs. Their themes include:
- Vikshit Bharat : A vision for a developed India.
- Atmanirbharta : Promoting self-reliance.
- Swachh Bharat : Advocating cleanliness and sanitation.
- Healthy India : Emphasizing health and wellness.
- Women Empowerment : Highlighting gender equality.
- Education with Discipline and Ethics : Fostering values for a brighter future.
- Fight Against Drug Menace : Raising awareness about the dangers of substance abuse.
On reaching the Dandi Salt Satyagraha Memorial, the cadets will symbolically prepare salt as a tribute to Mahatma Gandhi’s historic protest. This salt will be carried to New Delhi and presented to Prime Minister Narendar Modi during the NCC PM Rally on 28 January 2025,” said Major General Ramesh Shanmugam, ADG, Gujarat NCC Directorate.
