The Saptarishi Arati, a powerful process conducted at Kashi Vishwanath Temple in Varanasi, was offered yesterday (December 21) at the Yogeshwar Linga, a consecrated form in front of Adiyogi at the Isha Yoga Center, Coimbatore.
Sri Sri Panchamukha Anjaneyar Mutt’s Sri Vayu Sitha Ramananjadasa Jeeyar Swamigal from Sivaramapuram, Nagapattinam district joined the sacred ritual as the special guest.
Speaking about his experience at Isha Yoga Center, the Jeeyar Swamigal said, “It is a great blessing to have the darshan of the Divine here. Though I am a devotee of Perumal, I came here inspired by the philosophy that Shiva and Hari are one, which forms the foundation of this place.”
“Coming here feels like being in heaven, at the feet of Lord Shiva. The work being carried out by Sadhguru is not the effort of an individual but a divine arrangement. The dedication of the devotees to Sadhguru and the Divine is truly remarkable, and I pray for this to continue to unfold beautifully with Lord Narayana’s blessings,” he further remarked.
Saptarishi Arati is a powerful process taught by Shiva to his disciples – the seven sages – thousands of years ago. The process has been preserved in its pure form by priests of the Kashi Vishwanath temple in Varanasi.
Recalling his participation in the Saptarishi Arati, he said, “The puja, adornments, and Arati performed by the priests were a mesmerizing sight. Witnessing the divine darshan of Adiyogi afterwards left me awestruck and soaked me with bliss. As a Jeeyar, to sit before Shiva and experience this divine play was overwhelming and humbling.”
He also praised Sadhguru Gurukulam Samskriti, describing it as an extraordinary endeavour, “happening in a way beyond words, akin to the divine realm.” Sadhguru Gurukulam Samskriti is a school rooted in the traditional Bhartiya system where students are offered a unique blend of Yogic practices, Indian classical arts, martial arts such as Kalaripayattu, and Sanskrit.
Every year, on winter solstice, seven priests from Kashi conduct the Saptarishi Arati to offer gratitude to the Saptarishis for being a vehicle for Shiva’s grace. This is the only occasion when it is offered outside the Kashi Vishwanath temple.
Hundreds of Shiva devotees from Coimbatore, Pollachi, Udumalaipettai, and Annur also participated in the Arati. They also sang Thevaram hymns at the Surya Kunda Mandapam before attending the Saptarishi Arati.
