Filmmaker Vetrimaaran’s International Institute of Film and Culture (IIFC), successfully hosted a four-day tribute to the cinematic legacy of late veteran filmmaker Balu Mahendra.
Held in collaboration with Vels University (VISTAS) from February 13 to 16, 2025, the event featured a curated showcase of Mahendra’s iconic films, alongside in-depth discussions and retrospectives on his contributions to Indian cinema.
The closing ceremony saw an illustrious gathering of industry stalwarts, including legendary music composer Ilaiyaraaja, Dr. Ishari K Ganesh, actors Rohini Molleti and Nizhalgal Ravi, Father Rajanayagam, and Akila Balu Mahendra. Their presence underscored the profound impact of Balu Mahendra’s work on the film industry and its ongoing cultural relevance.
This initiative by IIFC and Vels University honored the visionary filmmaker’s artistry and aimed to inspire future generations of filmmakers and film enthusiasts.
