  • More than 200 vascular surgeons from across India will participate in this annual conference
  • The conference will also discuss innovations and their applications in patient care and strive for better and accurate diagnosis and treatment of diseases
  • This two-day conference will be held on 21st and 22nd Feb 2025 in Grand Mercure Hotel at Gandhinagar, Ahmedabad, Gujarat, India.

NE HEALTH BUREAU
AHMEDABAD, FEB 20

The ninth edition of two-day TEPCON-2025 (Troubleshooting in Endovascular Practice Conference), organized by the Gujarat Vascular Society, in association with the Vascular Society of India, will kick off on Friday at Grand Mercure, GIFT City in Gandhinagar.  It is a unique platform that provides an opportunity for experts in the field of vascular and endovascular surgery to share their knowledge, experience and groundbreaking advancements in this field, said the organizers.

Stating that the country has nearly 250 vascular and endovascular surgeons of which 22, including eight, are in Gujarat, Organising Chairman Dr. Vijay Thakore and Organising Secretary Dr. Srujal Shah said, “TEPCON has established itself as a premier platform for vascular specialists to exchange knowledge, share experiences, and explore innovative solutions to real-world challenges. This year’s conference will focus on preoperative complexities, strategies to reduce restenosis rates, and approaches for managing complex re-interventions. Attendees will gain insights into emerging technologies, including robotic-assisted procedures, drug-eluting innovations, and next-generation endovascular devices, shaping the future of vascular surgery. Together, we can drive progress and inspire the next generation of vascular specialists.”

TEPCON aims amputation-free India with innovations

“We welcome you to TEPCON 2025 to engage with experts, explore cutting-edge technologies, and contribute to the advancement of vascular surgery. Together, we can drive progress and inspire the next generation of vascular specialists. Further, in the country every 20-minute one person gets his legs amputated owing to uncontrolled diabetics and the widespread prevalence of smoking. We will strive hard to create awareness among the masses by hosting programmes like walkathon on Vascular Day. The Vascular Society of India (VSI) was founded on August 6, 1994, and this date is observed as the National Vascular Day. Due to the diabetic epidemic in India, we witness a large number of patients with diabetic foot problems and that the treatment is delayed due to lack of awareness and proper management. Timely treatment by vascular surgeons would go a long way in preventing the majority of diabetes-related amputations, saving lives,” they added.

Foot is the mirror of the heart

“One in every five diabetic patients is likely to develop foot ulcers, and in the initial stage, there is a blackening of the feet and swelling in the fingers. If this is not taken care of, there is a risk of ulcers over time. Symptoms like black spots, blisters, abnormal swelling, burning, redness, blue marks and strange smell in the feet are signs of diabetic foot and ulcers, in such a case the doctor must be consulted immediately. And if somebody has blockage in leg arteries, it is an indicator of a high risk of heart attacks and a close evaluation of heart arteries is needed as well. Hence the foot is the mirror of the heart,” said Dr Rishabh Gadhavi.

“Just as blockages in the arteries of the heart lead to heart attacks, blockages in the arteries of the legs cause gangrene (and, if not treated properly, lead to amputations.) and blockages in the neck arteries cause paralysis. Blockage of blood vessels causes deep vein thrombosis (DVT) and pulmonary embolism (PE) which can be fatal. To address all these problems, TEPCON-2025 is an ideal platform for the exchange of ideas, the presentation of new data and the discussion of the latest Innovations, Complications and Challenges in the field of vascular and endovascular surgery. With its focus on the most recent advancements, innovative and complex cases, the conference promises to provide a rich and engaging experience for attendees,” said Dr. Rajesh Hyderabadi, Dr. Vishal Sheth and Dr Kiran Dave, Dr Malay Patel and Dr Manish Rawal.

The two-day event will feature expert lectures, interactive discussions, and case-based learning, providing a comprehensive understanding of modern endovascular techniques. With a strong emphasis on practical knowledge and hands-on experience, TEPCON 2025 aims to enhance clinical decision-making and improve patient outcomes.

The conference will feature keynote presentations, case presentations, expert advice do’s and don’ts, troubleshooting tips and panel discussions. The conference will provide a unique opportunity for experts in the field to present their research and share their experiences with their peers.
