Celebrities like Nandamuri Balakrishna, Ajith Kumar, Sekhar Kapur, Arijit Singh and Ricky Kej received their Padma Awards 2025 from President Droupadi Murmu. Pankaj Udhas was honoured posthumously. Pankaj Udhas’ wife accepted the award in his honour.
Several others in the field of sports, medicine, business, and other fields also received awards on Monday.
Superstar Ajith Kumar, who was honoured with the prestigious Padma Bhushan award by the Government of India earlier this year, attended the grand investiture ceremony held at Rashtrapati Bhavan, New Delhi, on April 28. Dressed impeccably in a sleek black suit, Ajith received the nation’s third-highest civilian award from the President of India, Droupadi Murmu. He bowed in honour before receiving the award from the President. Ajith’s wife and their two children can be seen cheering from the audience.
Earlier, reacting to the honour, Ajith had issued a heartfelt statement expressing his gratitude. “It is a privilege to be recognised at such a level, and I am truly grateful for this generous acknowledgment of my contributions to our nation. This recognition is not merely a personal accolade but a testament to the collective support and inspiration I have received from my seniors, peers, and many others within the film industry,” the actor had shared.
