To drive home the message that there is no substitute for donating blood as a gift of blood is a gift of life, Devbhoomi Dwarka Collector & District Magistrate Rajesh M Tanna, IAS inaugurated a blood donation camp at the Indian Coast Guard (ICG) Station at Vadinar, a day ahead of World Blood Donor Day 2025, on Friday.

Speaking on the occasion, the Collector thanked all voluntary blood donors for their life-saving service, calling it an act of ‘seva’, sacred service to humanity.
The Indian Coast Guard (ICG) organized a series of voluntary blood donation camps across the NortT West Region, underscoring its steadfast commitment to humanitarian service. Aligning with the global theme “Give Blood, Give Hope – Together We Save Lives,” these camps saw enthusiastic participation from ICG personnel, their families, and civil stakeholders, reinforcing the importance of voluntary blood donation.

At the Vadinar camp on Friday, personnel from the ICG, Indian Oil Corporation Ltd. (IOCL), and Deendayal Port Authority (DPA) contributed to the noble cause.
On Saturday, ICGS Gandhinagar conducted a camp in collaboration with GMERS Government Hospital, Gandhinagar, while other ICG stations along the Gujarat coast organized similar drives at ICGS Okha, ICGS Pipavav, and ICGS Veraval—the latter supported by Junagadh Medical College.

The campaign focused on raising awareness about the critical role of voluntary blood donation in healthcare while promoting the spirit of compassion, solidarity, and collective responsibility.

Across all participating Coast Guard units in the region, more than 120 donors contributed to the cause, adding significantly to local blood reserves and setting a commendable example of service beyond duty.
As an armed force mandated to ensure safety and security in the maritime domain, the Indian Coast Guard continues to stand at the forefront of humanitarian outreach and nation-building efforts. These blood donation drives underscore the ICG’s enduring commitment to protecting life—both at sea and on shore.
