An Employment Fair under the aegis of the Directorate General Resettlement (DGR), Dept of Ex-Servicemen Welfare, Ministry of Defence, is scheduled to be conducted at Air Force Station Tambaram, Chennai, on Friday from 7 am to 5:30 pm, a Defence release said.
- The fair Is being organised with the aim of facilitating meaningful second career opportunities for retiring and retired Armed Forces personnel by providing a common platform for interaction with the corporate sector
- Senior officials from the Ministry of Defence, Directorate General of Resettlement and the three Services are expected to attend the fair
“The fair Is being organised with the aim of facilitating meaningful second career opportunities for retiring and retired Armed Forces personnel by providing a common platform for interaction with the corporate sector. It is expected that a large number of veterans and leading corporates from across the country will participate in the event,” the release said.
“The initiative is being undertaken to increase awareness among industries and companies regarding the availability of a disciplined, skilled, and experienced workforce in the form of ex-servicemen. It is also intended to enable retiring personnel to explore diverse employment avenues across various sectors of the economy,” the release added.
Senior officials from the Ministry of Defence, Directorate General of Resettlement and the three Services are expected to attend the fair. The event is anticipated to witness enthusiastic participation from retiring and retired Armed Forces personnel.
The Employment Fair at AFS Tambaram is being seen as a significant step towards strengthening civil-military cooperation in the domain of resettlement and rehabilitation of Armed Forces personnel through gainful employment.
It may be noted that most of the Armed Forces personnel retire from the Services very early and therefore they are being provided opportunities to serve in civilian sectors for the rest of their working age span.
