In a significant breakthrough amid ongoing unrest in Manipur, security forces recovered 62 weapons, 30 Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs), grenades, ammunition and various other war-like stores during joint operations across seven hill districts, a Defence release said on Tuesday.

“In a series of week-long coordinated joint operations, conducted from 30 June to 06 July 2025, the Indian Army and Assam Rifles, in close coordination with Manipur Police, CRPF, BSF and ITBP, launched multiple operations, based on specific information, across the hill and valley districts of Manipur viz. Jiribam, Kangpokpi, Churachandpur, Bishnupur, Tengnoupal, Imphal East and Imphal West,” the statement added.

The operations resulted in the apprehension of four cadres from hill and valley-based groups and the recovery of 62 weapons, 30 Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs), grenades, ammunition and various other war-like stores.
Key recoveries were made during joint operations in Imphal East, Jiribam, Kangpokpi, Churachandpur, Bishnupur, Imphal West and Tengnoupal districts. Notable recoveries included assault rifles, mortars, country-made weapons, grenades and the destruction of several concealed bunkers.
These sustained efforts underscore the unwavering resolve of security forces in restoring peace and maintaining stability in the state.
The apprehended individuals and recovered items have been handed over to the Manipur Police for further investigation.
